The Cluster Munition Coalition
The Cluster Munition Coalition (CMC) is a network of more than 200 civil society organisations. The CMC assists campaigners to develop national advocacy strategies; produces and provides campaign material: shares information on government positions and campaigning initiatives through its email list and website (www.stopclustermunitions.org), and coordinates civil society campaigning at Oslo Process Conferences. The CMC is promoting a set of Treaty Principles which are essential for a treaty to be effective in protecting civilians from the impact of these weapons (link to treaty principles)

The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund and cluster munitions
In 1997, photographs of Diana walking through minefields and talking to landmine survivors caught the attention of the world. Many felt that Diana's actions played a large part in securing a ban on landmines. After her death in 1997, The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund was set up to carry on the Princess's humanitarian work, supporting poor, sick and vulnerable people. The Fund has given over £11 million to landmine charities which has helped with clearing landmines, educating people about them, supporting people who have been injured and campaigning against their use.

Ten years on, The Fund is focusing on a similar threat to poor and vulnerable people, during and after war. Like landmines, cluster bombs take away lives, limbs and land from the poorest people on earth. They too must be banned.

In addition to funding this scheme The Fund is a founder member of the Cluster Munition Coalition.

Landmine Action (www.landmineaction.org) Landmine Action is a UK based NGO that works to improve protection for civilians from the effects of specific weapons.

The world is too little aware of the waste of life, limb and land which anti-personnel landmines are causing among some of the poorest people on earth.
